Every year I get my Thanksgiving turkey from Tewes Farm in Earlanger, Kentucky. I go back every year because their turkeys taste the best! We emailed Tewes for some insider info about their turkeys. Why get a turkey from Tewes instead of the grocery store? “You’ll know where your turkey was raised, you’ll see them outside so you know they don’t live in cages.” Tewes told us. “They don’t have hormones and they are larger, so more mean and less bones. They are fresh and juicy unlike frozen and thawed turkeys.” The farm is run by a local family and has... [more...]

The Ohio Schools Report Card came out on Tuesday, and schools in the area are rated, for the most part, good. Cincinnati Public retained it’s mid-level ‘continuous improvement’ status for the fifth straight year, although there were some dips in the ratings from last year. (The school system had seen gains last year from previous years.) CPS met six out of 30 indicators, down from nine last year. Each indicator measures a grade’s passing rate on different subjects. The test scores are the only basis for these ratings. These scores are based on tests given to students last year... [more...]

Cincy’s Bacchanalian Society “ensures that the finer things in life are enjoyed without pretense and always in the company of good friends.” Named for Bacchus, the Roman deity of wine and merriment, this group for young professionals embraces not only the power of wine but its social benefits. But it’s not just a group for sipping and socializing. The Society helps charities organize and conduct wine tastings every quarter. So, with only four events a year, each one is a big event. The Bacchanalian Society is a volunteer-driven nonprofit organization that is led by a dedicated team of... [more...]
