Thanksgiving is almost here, which means I’m getting excited to enjoy my Tewes Farm turkey. Every year I purchase my fresh turkey from Tewes, and I know that it will be delicious because it comes from their local, cage-free farm. Tewes Farm was started in 1955 by the Tewes family, and has been operating ever since. They offer turkeys, chickens, eggs, pork products and even live animals for pets (such as baby ducks, chicks and bunnies). You can get turkey here year round (as well as their other products), so you can fulfill a Thanksgiving craving any time. Why get a turkey from Tewes instead... [more...]

I am a huge fan of the Cincinnati Freestore Foodbank’s “Power Pack” Program for kids. It’s an amazing project that provides weekend food to sustain children who might otherwise go hungry when school is not in session. It’s hard to imagine that we have children in our area who need this... [more...]

Time to Fall Back also means time to change the batteries in your smoke detector. Have you done it? It’s recommended that you change the batteries in your smoke detector twice a year to ensure your safety. While you’re at it, check to make sure you have an accessible fire extinguisher (especially near the stove) and that it’s not expired. If you don’t own a carbon monoxide detector yet, now is a good time to pick one up. They are inexpensive and can plug right into an out-of-the-way outlet in your home. It’s always a good idea to have one when you start to use your... [more...]
