The AmyBSells Team has been featured in the blogosphere, with a positive write-up over at Working Moms Against Guilt. The writer, a client of mine, shares a great, personal story about both the strain and reward found in working hard to sell your house. “It happened so quickly, it almost might look “easy” to a casual observer. But let me tell you, transforming a totally messy, dirty, toy-infested house into a staged, real estate-ready model home was no easy feat. I literally spent an entire week decluttering, moving stuff into storage, cleaning, and decorating (per our wonderful... [more...]

Happy Earth Day 2010! We all know that we can reduce waste (and save money) by turning off lights, reducing water consumption and bringing your own bag to the grocery store. But here are a few creative ways to be green that you may not have thought of. 1.) Choose Plastic Last Almost everything is packaged in plastic. And recycling your plastic is a great idea. But take notice at the grocery store and perhaps select a product that is packaged in paper, glass or metal. Over the past several months, the hot topic of health care reform took much of Congress’s attention. Now, with the bill passed into law, the government is turning its attention to other matters to help bolster the economy including the... [more...]

How to Unclog a Drain

Have smelly or slow-draining sinks in your house? There are a few simple things you can do to clear out your drains, and you might not even have to resort to nasty chemicals. Try to run hot water through drains frequently to kill nasty odors and keep it clear. If you get the start of a clog, treat it quickly with one of these methods before it gets out of hand. For kitchen drains, pouring a strong brine (salt water) solution down the drain every so often will help kill odors and keep it free of grease. Naturally clear sinks by pouring baking soda down the drain, followed by a quarter cup of vinegar... [more...]
Will the Tax Credit Get Extended?

The likely answer: no. No, the tax credit is probably not going to get extended. We talked about the tax credit’s remaining weeks in an earlier post. Unlike with earlier extensions, the NAR is not lobbying for it again. President Vicki Cox Golder said in a letter to association leaders, “NAR has had extensive discussions with our congressional allies and concluded that an additional extension of the tax credit is unlikely. While lawmakers recognize that the tax credit helped stabilize the market, it appears that much of the benefit has been realized.” She continued by saying,... [more...]
