We paid the 11th highest airline fares in the nation here in Cincinnati, but prices are lower overall. This rank has moved down 10, after CVG held last year’s top spot for most expensive. Average fare was up slightly from the previous quarter, however. Current average fare is $367 round trip.
This information comes from the Bureau of Transportation Statistics for the 100 busiest airports in the country.
Fares have dropped due to a change in price structure by Delta, the airport’s major airline. Regionally, Louisville ranks 40th out of 100, Dayton is 62nd, Indianapolis is 70th, and Columbus comes in at 73rd.
In other CVG news, the first new airline in six years will join the airport in May. Air Canada will be offering a twice-a-day nonstop service to Toronto. The last time a new airline joined CVG was USA 3000 in 2004.
