Cincinnati’s Romantic Spots

We’ve taken an unofficial survey of friends and the internet to uncover Cincinnati’s most romantic spots. And after careful consideration, here’s what we came up with.
Fountain Square: With the breathtaking Tyler Davidson Fountain (it’s actually called The Genius of Water) and its downtown surroundings, Fountain Square is a charming spot. The ice-rink is open (weather permitting), and offers 2-for-one skating on Valentine’s Day. Perhaps take tuo amore to Via Vita for some Italian cuisine. Visit www.myfountainsquare.com for other info, as well as live open/closed status of the skating rink.
Carew Tower: For amazing views, check out the Carew Tower’s Observation Deck with admission at just $2. (Go early, the observation deck is only open until 7 p.m. on the weekends.) If you’ve lived here your whole life and have never gone, it’s time! Enjoy this Cincinnati landmark before it’s no longer the city’s tallest building. Of course it’s always romantic to stay at one of Hilton Netherland Plaza’s luxurious rooms with a view. For a less expensive treat, enjoy a cupcake from Abby Girl Sweets, now located inside.
Price Hill Area: Everyone says to eat at Prima Vista for a romantic meal — it features a beautiful rustic Italian interior (and great Italian food). Most importantly, it offers another amazing view of the city. Less than a mile away is Union Terminal, where you can whisper sweet nothings across the famous Rotunda or stroll around and admire the architecture.
Mt. Adams: Mt. Adams, Mt. Adams… So many of the most romantic spots we can think of are located in or near Mt. Adams: Eden Park with it’s amazing views, the tropical beauty of the Khron Conservatory, the quiet elegance of the Cincinnati Art Museum, the intimacy of live theatre at the Cincinnati Playhouse, and more! For an amazing culinary experience, as well as a great view, dine at the Celestial — it’s considered a top romantic locale.
Coney Island: Our off-season honorable mention for good, old-fashioned romance is Coney Island and Moonlite Gardens. You can’t take your Valentine now, but you can go this spring. City Beat honored Moonlite Gardens in its Best of Romance category several years ago. It is not only a magical place to see a concert, but you can attend one of the nostalgic Big Band dances hosted under the stars in the outdoor space. Or you can plan a picnic, sunbathe by the pool, or enjoy classic rides.
These are just a few of our favorite romantic Cincy spots. (You can check some of them out if the snow ever melts!) But the most romantic spots are those that feel romantic for you: whether it’s around your home, a local park, a favorite restaurant or spot for drinks. Cincinnati has a lot of nooks and crannies, each unique and special! Explore!
