By Steve Habegger AmyBSells Team Certified Distressed Property Expert Short sales and foreclosures have become dirty words to the average person.  But in my experience and education, I’ve found that there are many average people who are unfortunate enough to encounter these realities.  Too many homeowners are making decisions without proper information. That is why I have become a Certified Distressed Property Expert (CDPE) for the AmyBSells Team. We’ve had no shortage of snow this month, and it’s never too late to review winter safety. It’s important to be prepared for this or the next (or the next…) episode of winter weather. Keep an eye on the amount of snow collected on your roof, especially if it’s old snow. Ten to twelve inches of fresh snow is only equal to about one inch of water, but 3-5 inches of packed snow is the same. Recently we discussed FHA changes (please review them here), but there are some important points to take away from the changes. First of all, the changes in upfront Mortage Insurance Premium to 2.25 percent will matter earliest. Our lender sources have informed us that this change is taking place April 5. The other changes follow this summer, according to the FHA. Translation: more money up-front. Basically, this means don’t wait. If you’re... [more...]

We’ve taken an unofficial survey of friends and the internet to uncover Cincinnati’s most romantic spots. And after careful consideration, here’s what we came up with. Fountain Square: With the breathtaking Tyler Davidson Fountain (it’s actually called The Genius of Water) and its downtown surroundings, Fountain Square is a charming spot. The ice-rink is open (weather permitting), and offers 2-for-one skating on Valentine’s Day. Perhaps take tuo amore to Via Vita for some Italian cuisine. Visit  www.myfountainsquare.com for other info, as well as live open/closed... [more...]

Amazon.com has released a list of Most Romantic Cities, and Cincinnati comes in at a sweet number 15. The ranking is based on the citywide amount of purchases of products in “romantic” categories since January 1, 2010. The rankings were determined on a per capita basis in cities with more than 100,000 people. The categories include purchases in romance novels, romantic comedy DVDs, sex and relationship books, sexual wellness products and, believe it or not, Barry White CDs. Cincinnati is ready for romance this Valentines’ Day. Florida scored the most spots with four cities in... [more...]
