Well, it’s now the second week of January in this new decade. Have you been keeping your New Year’s resolutions? Chances are you resolved to stay or get healthy, eliminate stress and/or do something good for your body? We’re always resolving to support our neighborhood businesses. Fulfill those resolutions by trying a new yoga studio that has just opened up in the heart of Hyde Park.
The studio is called Move Your Hyde Power Yoga, and it’s a beautiful new space that interior design enthusiasts will appreciate. (It’s located at the corner of Michigan and Erie.) We chatted with Missy Tyszkiewicz, owner of the studio and teacher.
What does your studio offer to the community?
“We are offering a new style of yoga not currently available in Cincinnati. Our classes are challenging, but light. We truly have a passion for and enjoy sharing yoga with others and believe in providing a safe space for students to uncover the true power within themselves.”
If someone is looking for a healthy habit in the New Year, what makes yoga a good choice? Anything particular about the yoga at your studio that makes it unique?
“Yoga is a great way to build a healthy lifestyle. The practice helps to detoxify your mind and body and really allows you to see how the choices you make effect your health and energy level. Through our power yoga classes, you will build strength and flexibility as well as gain a new appreciation for your body. We teach classes based on Baron Baptiste’s Power Vinyasa Yoga system. This is a unique style of yoga designed to work your body, cleanse your mind and free your spirit. Ultimately, you will become healthier, happier and more powerful in your life.”
Explain briefly the classes and types of students who attend?
“We offer classes of 60, 75, and 90 minutes. All of our classes are taught in a room heated to 90 degrees and are accessible to all levels of students. This is a practice designed for everybody, and most poses can be modified to fit each individuals needs. We have a wide range of students, from true beginners to advanced practitioners. Everyone is welcome in our studio.”
Tell us about your studio space.
“Our studio was designed with a “Zen” feel in mind. We have a simple but very beautiful space which offers a warm and comfortable environment to unfold on your mat. The style of the studio is very Asian, with the front wall built to resemble a “shoji screen” and custom woodwork in a dark walnut stain throughout both the retail space and the practice area. The floors in the studio are bamboo and cork, the color is a soothing mossy green and we even offer a shower with a river rock floor.”
Why did you choose Hyde Park?
“Hyde Park felt like the right location for our studio. We love the vibrant community here and the active lifestyle of the local residents made it a logical choice for a Power Yoga studio.”
