Generation X is a big part of my market, and many of today’s home buyers fall into this generation. This generation includes young families, singles, double income couples and others. It’s important for me to understand generational differences so I can work better with this group, and so that we can make your home appeal to them as well! Who is Generation X? Gen Xers are approximately between the ages of 27 and 43. According to the National Association of Realtors, Gen Xers make up 25% of Realtors (including myself) and 55% of home buyers. Xers are typically the children of the Baby... [more...]

It’s a no-brainer: your listing MUST BE CLEAN! And before we describe some “green” ways to keep your house spic-and-span, remember that you should do whatever it takes to remove built-up dirt, stains or other such remnants of life in your home. That being said, traditional cleaning products (especially heavy stain removers, mildew-killers, and many aerosol sprays) can contain many harmful chemicals that are released into the air in your home and left on surfaces. If you are cleaning your home on a daily basis to stay showing-ready, you are building up a lot of these chemicals. You don’t... [more...]

It’s a complicated question, but the answer is that you should feel safe in Cincinnati. However, like all major U.S. cities, Cincinnati does have crime. It is simply important to be aware that it exists and use common sense. If you’ve ever spent time downtown after a theatre performance, visited bars and restaurants in areas like Mt. Lookout or Hyde Park, caught a movie in Clifton or hung out late nights up in Mt. Adams, you would have seen quite a lot of people out enjoying themselves. Residents generally feel safe in Cincinnati, especially in family-friendly and populated areas. The... [more...]

Clearly, I can’t say enough about staging! It’s one of the easiest ways you can get an edge on selling your home. Nancy Buck, from It Pays to Stage, is one of my favorite local stagers who has worked with my listings. She was recently featured in CIN Weekly in a great article about staging tips. The pictures are from a listing of mine on which Buck worked her magic. “Presentation is absolutely everything,” Buck says. “A lot of buyers don”t have very much imagination, and it”s really important to present your home in the very best possible light, and staging really... [more...]
